Louise is a Public Health Principal in a local authority public health team and is responsible for commissioning a health and wellbeing service for the local population.

Louise is keen to ensure that the service specification includes a section on skills, knowledge and competencies that will be required of the workforce to deliver behaviour change.

On speaking with other colleagues, she was made aware of the BCDF.

Louise reviews the BCDF website and finds the level assessment tool and competency tool very helpful in developing her service specification.

Louise uses the BCDF in her service specification requesting that the workforces delivering the service are assessed using the BCDF level assessment tool.

Louise believes that the BCDF learning resources can help the service to develop a learning programme at the behaviour change level identified by the level assessment tool.

This is because Louise can see that a number of learning resources have been mapped to the behaviour change competencies.

Louise decides, as the commissioner of the service, that behaviour change development for the workforce would be included as one of the KPIs for the contract.
