Brief and extended brief interventions

Workers who mostly engage with people who have a health or social care need will ideally be trained to Behaviour Change Level 2 (BC2), this involved training in brief and extended brief interventions. For example: a doctor who is treating someone with diabetes getting training in motivational interviewing.

Agree end point or closure of support with service user

Learners will be able to

  1. end the intervention in a planned manner and help service user identify any concerns they may have about the closure of support
  2. plan for maintenance of behaviour change including identification of other resources that might provide maintenance support
  3. self-reflect on what worked well or could have been improved, and identify key learning points
